• Wood burning Tips: Pyrography

Wood burning pr pyrography is a great form of art, very affordable and pretty good hobby as well. There are many ways to express oneself in art, and pyrography is one of them. While it may seem complicated, the trick is to being focused. However, there are a few hidden tips and tricks one can use to get a better pyrography art. When it comes to wood burning, mono chromatic designs and pictures are best, and a lot of things come into play as well. For example, the color of the wood, the surface of the wood, quality of a wood and so on. Good news is that as long as there is a pyrography pen, we are set to go.
The first thing to know is the wood: a nice and soft wood is the best option. Ash, pine and maple are great choices, mainly because their soft and lighter colors with the smooth surface give great contrast. Sanding the whole wood is a very important thing too, just in case there are grains or uneven surfaces, which ruin the flow and does not burn as expected. So make sure those are checked, for a better, smoother and clearer finished work of wood art. Graphite nd carbon papers can be especially useful for new practitioners who don’t feel comfortable using freehand sketching on the surface of the wood.
With a pyrography pen there are a handful of different sized tips. Make sure to test each one of them on a wood of the same material just to get the flow and see which ones does what. Get a holder to rest the pen as well, for placing the pen and rests. Getting comfortable with the pen and wood is the key, so again, make sure to practice it on whatever material the canvas is of.
There is no universal trick to getting better however. One just have to practice enough to get really comfortable with the surface. Besides, following tutorials and how to guides online can be quite helpful for beginners.
